BSS, DHAKA: At least sixteen shops were burnt in a devastating fire at a Uttara sector-11 kitchen market here early today before the fire fighters put out the blaze in their 40 minutes efforts, an official said.
“On information of fire around 2.05am, the firemen rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control… But, sixteen shops were burnt before extinguishing the fire”, Fire Service Media officer Talha Bin Jashim said.
A total of nine fire fighting units from Uttara, Tongi, Kurmitola and Pallabi fire stations were engaged in dousing the fire, he added.
Fire destroyed the huge amount of goods but the extent of loss is yet to be ascertained, said Rozina Akhter, Duty Officer of Fire Services and Civil Defense Headquarters.
