BSS, DHAKA:  Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Wednesday seized 14 pieces of gold bars weighting 1.721 kilograms worth around Taka 1.37 crore from a passenger at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The passenger — Md Gias Uddin — who came from Dubai was detained in this connection, CIID assistant director Farhana Begum told BSS.

Acting on a tip-off, the CIID officials detained Gias Uddin and recovered the gold from him this morning who was a passenger of Flydubai airlines (flight number-501).

Farhana said a case has been lodged with Biman Bandar thana in this connection as the detainee has been sent to the police station for taking legal action while recovered gold bars have been taken to Dhaka customs warehouse.
