Moon DESK: A woman Lieutenant-Colonel posted in Jammu and Kashmir, has filed a rape case against her colleague of the same rank and his mother in Varanasi. She has alleged that the accused promised to marry her and had unnatural sex with her on many occasions.
She has also accused that the officer and his mother demanded Rs 80 lakh in dowry. ACP (Cantt) Atul Anjan Tripathi on Tuesday said, “On the basis of complaint of the woman army officer, a named FIR was lodged against the accused and his mother under sections 323, 504 , 506, 509, 493, 496, 376 (rape) of IPC and section 3 of the Dowry Prohibition Act on Sunday evening. Investigation in this matter has started apart from initiating the process of medical examination of the complainant, recording her statement and others.
Further action would be taken in this case on the basis of outcomes of the investigation.” In her complaint, the woman officer said that during her posting in Jammu and Kashmir, she had come in contact with the accused who later proposed to her in May.
“After discussing it with my well-wishers, I accepted his proposal. In September, the accused invited me to meet his mother in Varanasi and also sent me an air ticket. I met his mother at his residence, and she was cordial and loving,” she said.
Later, she alleged that the officer made physical relations with her on many occasions during her stay in Varanasi and also indulged in unnatural sex. She alleged that he recorded a video of her and tried to blackmail her. When she called up the police, the accused, according to her, took her to a local temple and exchanged garlands.
But later, his mother demanded Rs 80 lakh dowry and threw her outside their house when she refused, she alleged. Later, the woman officer met commissioner of police Ashok Mutha Jain with her complaint. The CP directed Cantt police for necessary action after which the FIR was lodged.
