Staff Reporter: A day-long pie festival was held at Haji Saeed Laboratory School, a renowned educational institution in Tongi. A pie festival, a folk tradition of Bengal, was held in the school premises from Thursday morning till evening. The pie festival was inaugurated by Syed Atiq, founder of the school and former president of Tongi Press Club. Khaledur Rahman Russell, Councilor of Ward No. 43 of Gazipur City Corporation was present as the chief guest at the festival. Apart from this, National Journalist Society Secretary General Nasir Uddin Bulbul, Tongi Press Club General Secretary Mahabub Chowdhury, Alhaj Yusuf Pathan, Moktar Hossain Sohel, Abdus Salam, Roksana Atiq, Sensei Abdullah Al Mamun and Syed Zakir Hossain were present as special guests.
Students and local residents enjoy the pie festival with great enthusiasm and the school premises are buzzing with the presence of thousands of visitors.
120 types of various pies were sold and displayed in the day-long pie festival. Later, prizes were distributed among the winning pie makers.
