Online Desk: The Bangladesh Muslim League leaders have expressed their opinion in favor of bringing balance of power between the Prime Minister and the President in the reform of the state structure so that the President can play an important role in resolving the political deadlock, including conducting elections in special situations.
Bangladesh Muslim League Khulna district and Khulna city joint initiative hold a discussion meeting on Saturday entitled “Interim government’s actions to organize fair elections”, while senior politician Mr. Wajer Ali Moral, president of Khulna district Muslim League presided over the event at Khulna press club auditorium.
The chief guest of the meeting and Acting President of Bangladesh Muslim League, distinguished legal expert Advocate Md. Mohsin Rashid welcomed the initiative of the interim government to dialogue with the political parties to reform the constitution and state structure. Each political party has specific proposals in this regard and the Muslim League is also working on proposals to give to the interim government, he added.
However, the oldest political party in the country, Muslim League, which has the rare political experience of being intimately involved in three different contexts of British India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, is still waiting for an invitation from the government. It is a different matter if the government thinks that political experience is worthless and unnecessary.
In the speech of the special guest, Secretary General of Bangladesh Muslim League Kazi Abul Khair said that the political parties that boycotted the 2024 elections of the fascist government are the parties that carry the spirit of mass uprising. Only the victims know what kind of struggle they had to fight that day to avoid participating in the elections. Ignoring strong political pressure and temptation, Bangladesh Muslim League boycotted the elections and took a stand for democracy. History is witness; Muslim League is the only party which till date has not made any compromise with the hegemonic India and its allies.
Bangladesh Muslim League Central Vice President Syed Abdul Hannan Noor, Additional Secretary General Akbar Hossain Pathan, Organizing Secretary Khan Asad, Publicity Secretary Sheikh A Sabur, legendary parliamentarian Khan A Sabur’s nephew Mustaq Ahmed Khan, Khulna City Muslim League leader Hyder Ali, Dawood Ahmed, Bagerhat district Muslim League leader Khan Abdus Saburamong others also spoke at the meeting.
The leaders of Khulna District and city Muslim League strongly demanded that the main road of Khulna city, which was changed by the fascist Hasina government, be reinstated as Khan-e-Sabur Road and that the Khan-e-Sabur Trust be reorganized in the interest of public welfare.
