Syed Atik, Tongi: Party leaders, workers and people staged a protest march in Tongi demanding the release of former industrial affairs secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Jubodal, brave freedom fighter Nurul Islam.
Thousands of leaders and workers of Gazipur city BNP and its affiliates protested by occupying Dhaka Mymensingh highway from the front of New Bazaar Capri cinema hall in Tongi on Thursday afternoon
Sarkar Shahanur Islam Roni, son of Nurul Islam Sarkar, led the protest march.
Roni Sarkar said, the fascist government of Awami League has unjustly imprisoned my father for more than 20 years. The speakers said that the popular leader of Tonggi Basi, Nurul Islam, was jealous of Sarkar’s huge popularity and was imprisoned for years in a false murder case to keep him away from politics. I hope the current government will immediately release him and come forward to establish justice. The protestors also warned that a larger movement would be called otherwise.
