Special Correspondent: The picnic and reunion of the Ghorashal Urea Sar Karkhana School & College Alumni Association located in Palash Upazila of Narsingdi was held on Friday at the Sea Shell Resort in Purbachal, near the capital Dhaka.
The Sea Shell Resort in Purbachal was bustling from the morning with the President of the reunion program, Dr. Md. Jamal Uddin, and the outstanding organizational skills & management of General Secretary Md. Abu Kayes.
Everyone was overjoyed to see their classmates after a long time. While reminiscing, they went back to their lost childhood and adolescence.
The exceptional aspect of the reunion organized by the Urea Sar Karkhana School & College Alumni Association was that the teachers of the institution were made to share in the joy of the reunion and be honored. More than two hundred students and their parents and family members also participated.
Various sports competitions were held among alumni members, spouses, guardians, children and guests. Prizes were distributed among the winners of various games including raffle draws.
It is worth noting that the Ghorashal Urea Sar Karkhana School & College Alumni Meet is held almost every year. Former students and family members eagerly await this day.
Talking to the organization’s president Dr. Jamal Uddin and secretary Abu Kayes, it was learned that the Urea Fertilizer Factory School was established in 1970. Later, the college started its activities in 1982. The institution’s former students are established in various sectors in the country and abroad today. They are contributing to various professions and jobs in the society.
As a journalist participating in the meet, I found some things very wonderful and enjoyable.
I saw the former students of Ghorashal Urea Fertilizer Factory School and College as a family. Every member is sincere towards each other.
Another aspect was that many alumni members came to the reunion with their elderly parents and maid. Usually, the participation of spouses and children in the reunions of these organizations is normal, but the participation of parents and teachers is very limited. However, elderly parents and teachers feel more lonely than spouses and children. They also need entertainment. Real happiness lies in sharing joy with everyone on a day. Another thing surprised me. Talking to a student of the 1994 SSC batch named Anar Koli, it was learned that all 5 siblings are former students of Urea Fertilizer Factory School and College. She along with her elder 4 siblings have all passed SSC and HSC from this institution. Talking to many alumni, I was further convinced that all of them have passed SSC and HSC from the same institution.
