Special Correspondent: Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party strongly protests the increase in soybean oil price by Tk 14 per liter to Tk 189 due to the government’s short-sighted and anti-people policies.
In a statement sent to the media, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju and General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuaad said that this unbearable price hike has directly intensified the poverty and suffering in the daily lives of the people, which is proof of the government’s extreme negligence towards its economic capacity and public welfare.
During the previous fascist government, the rise in the prices of daily necessities destroyed the purchasing power of the people. This time, by increasing the prices of basic food items like soybean oil, the interim government has proven that they do not understand the value of the suffering of the common people. At a time when people from all walks of life—low-income earners, daily wage earners, and middle class—are struggling to meet their daily needs, the government’s wrong import policy and complicated tax structure have increased the price of edible oil.
The leaders demanded immediate action to bring the prices of all daily necessities, including edible oil, within the reach of the people.
They said that the main goal of a government that has been established in the blood of the people should be to make people’s lives easier. They cannot have any other goal other than making people’s lives easier.
