Nuruddin Jabed, Lakshmipur: Severe fire safety negligence has been found at the 50-bed Raipur Government Health Complex in Lakshmipur. Fire extinguishers there have been expired for nearly three years, yet are still in use. A visit on Monday (April 28) revealed only two extinguishers in the entire facility, despite fire safety regulations requiring at least ten.
Labels on the extinguishers show expiration in April 2022. No recent fire drills have been recorded, raising serious safety concerns. Acting Station Officer of Raipur Fire Service, Syed Ahmed, confirmed no drill requests were made and said the hospital is at high risk. He assured that a fire drill will be organized soon.
Local residents have expressed alarm over the negligence and are demanding immediate improvements to the hospital’s fire safety measures.
