Syed Atik, Gazipur: The fascist government has planned to kill Professor MA Mannan, the founding mayor of Gazipur City Corporation, former state minister, and former BNP vice chairman, by imprisoning him in a false case. BNP leaders made this allegation while speaking at various functions on the third death anniversary of Professor MA Mannan on Monday.
On the occasion of the death anniversary, various day-long programs including grave visitation, free medical camp, discussion meeting, special prayer mahfil were held on Monday. Mahmud Hasan Raju presided over a program of the City Jubo Dal on this occasion at the party office premises on Rajbari Road in the city, where Gazipur City BNP President Shawkat Hossain Sarkar was present as the chief guest held in the morning. Former ward councilor of the city Hasan Ajmal Bhuiyan, Jubo Dal leader Nazmul Khandaker Sumon, Farhaz Bin Probal and other leaders were present at the meeting. In the afternoon, at the memorial meeting organized by Gazipur Sadar Metro BNP, under the chairmanship of Advocate Mehedi Hasan Ellis, City BNP President Shawkat Hossain Sarkar, City General Secretary Manjurul Karim Roni, Mir Halimuzzaman Noni and other leaders spoke.

Gazipur City BNP General Secretary M Manjurul Karim Roni said at the meeting that the fascist government did not allow the people to celebrate the death anniversary of the leader of the masses, the popular mayor Professor MA Mannan. Today, we are able to celebrate the death anniversary because we are free from tyranny. He said that my father has been imprisoned for 3 years on false charges. This was not an ordinary death. Professor MA Mannan was killed in a planned manner.
City BNP President Shawkat Sarkar said that after being elected mayor during the previous government that fell into a mass uprising, Professor MA Mannan was tortured in prison for almost three years due to political cases and lack of proper medical treatment, and gradually fell into the lap of death. The speakers also demanded the arrest of those involved in his arrest.
