
Special Correspondent: In a significant development toward building a unified political and electoral front, Islamic Andolan Bangladesh, IAB, and the Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) held a bilateral dialogue on Wednesday afternoon at the central office of IAB. The meeting was jointly led by Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim, Amir of Islamic Andolan Bangladesh, and Mojibur Rahman Monju, Chairman of the AB Party. Following the discussion, the two parties reached a historic consensus on eleven key points aimed at reforming and stabilizing Bangladesh’s political future and ensuring justice, democracy, and national sovereignty.
The 11-Point Consensus Includes:
Building national unity to establish a sovereign, independent, anti-imperialist, welfare-oriented Bangladesh free from foreign domination and expansionism;
Ensuring swift and exemplary punishment for those involved in corruption, terrorism, killings, and money laundering.
Forming national consensus to protect voting rights, civil liberties, and human rights.
Implementing necessary reforms before holding a free, fair, and inclusive national election at the earliest convenience;
Controlling inflation and restoring law and order to ease public lives;
Uniting all forces opposed to deposed Awami fascism in the task of national reconstruction.
Avoiding internal conflict among anti-fascist political forces;
Preventing the return of fascist regimes like the Awami League through continued political consensus and settlement;
Gradually repealing laws in the constitution that contradict the religious values of the majority people and avoiding any speech or policy that disrespects any faith or tradition;
Immediately removing remaining pro-Awami fascist elements from the administration and bureaucracy;
Introducing proportional representation (PR) in national elections to ensure political stability and accurate reflection of public opinion in parliament.
Asaduzzaman Fuaad, a barrister-at-law and General Secretary of the AB Party, Lt. Colonel (Retd.) Didarul Alam, Vice Chairman, Zobayer Ahmed Bhuiyan, a barrister-at-law and Joint General Secretary, Sunny Abdul Haque, a barrister-at-law and Joint General Secretary, Abbas Noman, a barrister-at-law and Shadow Affairs Secretary of the AB Party were also present during the dialogue.
