
City Desk: Farakka Day is a glorious day in the history of Bangladesh’s struggle to protect water sovereignty. A discussion meeting was held at the Dhaka Metropolitan North office of Bangladesh Justice Party to commemorate this historic day.
It was presided over by Bangladesh Justice Party’s Dhaka Metropolitan North President and party executive president Mr. Shahidul Islam Howlader. Bangladesh Justice Party Chairman Syed Javed Mohammad Salehuddin was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting. The party chairman said in his speech that on this day in 1976, the historic Farakka Long March was held under the leadership of the oppressed people’s leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, which was the first mass movement of the people of Bangladesh against Indian water aggression and violation of international law by India, which later left a deep mark on the national consciousness of Bangladesh and created the concept of Bangladeshi nationalism. The meeting was also addressed by the party’s Organizing Secretary Mr. Mohiuddin Mohin, Treasurer Mr. Mostafizur Rahman Sumon and other party central leaders.
