MM Rahmatullah: As part of Sammilito Parishad’s campaign for the upcoming BGMEA elections, a meeting of small and non-bonded garment factory owners was held at Uttara Club in the capital on Friday.
Members and leaders of Sammilito Parishad were present at the event. Their loud presence and attentive participation made the event more lively and significant.
At present, the total number of members of BGMEA is about 1865, of which about 400 are non-bonded factories. These non-bonded and SME entrepreneurs are the unstoppable driving force of our industrial sector. They are like the life jackets or small boats of each ship, without whom it is difficult for even big factories to survive.
Non-bond factories refer to those that are approved as per the BGMEA Code of Conduct but do not get the benefit of duty-free import of raw materials from customs.
Basically, small and medium entrepreneurs are the main driving force in the formation of a sustainable, inclusive and modern BGMEA. A strong organization can be built only by ensuring their active participation and support.
At this time, Rashedur Rahman Chanchal, one of the popular candidates of the Sammilito Parishad, said, “Garments are not just an industry, it is the story of the lives of millions of workers; a promise to build Bangladesh. I want the touch of technology in this industry, the dignity of people and a strong position in the world. For this purpose, I am contesting on ballot number 61 of the Sammilit Parishad.” At this time, he told the voters, “Come on May 31, and let’s build the garment industry of the future together. Cast your vote for Ballot numbers 36 to 70 of the Sammilito Parishad.”
Another young candidate of the Sammilito Parishad, Manjurul Faisal, said, “I am coming from a business owned family in my family. The garment business is in my blood. If elected as a director, I will work for everyone in this sector.”
