
Syed Atik, Gazipur: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police has arrested Md. Ekhlas Ali (30), assistant manager of the IT department of Hossain Dyeing and Printing Mills Limited, on charges of producing, storing and distributing pornography videos of minor children. CID Special Police Superintendent Jasim Uddin Khan gave this information on Monday. He was arrested during a raid in Pagar Pathanpara area of Tongi East Police Station in Gazipur metropolis.
CID sources said that the Cyber Police Center (CPC) of the CID came to know about the matter through the National Central Bureau based on intelligence information from the Crime against Children Unit of Interpol. According to the information, a Bangladeshi citizen was producing, storing and distributing pornography videos of minor children through various digital media. Later, the CID’s cyber monitoring team identified the accused with technical assistance.
The permanent address of accused Md. Ekhlas Ali is in Kamarhati village of Lalpur police station in Natore district. He was working as an assistant manager of the IT department at Hossain Dyeing and Printing Mills Limited in Gazipur. It is learned that the accused used to collect pornographic videos of minor children using various online platforms including Telegram and stored and disseminated them on mobile phones.
On June 1, the Cyber Intelligence and Risk Management Team of the CID identified the location of the accused through information technology and conducted a raid and arrested him. At that time, a smartphone was seized from him, in which several videos of child pornography were found. During the initial interrogation, the accused Md. Ekhlas Ali confessed to being involved in the crime. A case has been registered against him at Paltan police station under Section 8(5)(a) of the Pornography Control Act 2012.
