MA Mannan, Bhola: The Coast Guard South Zone has seized illegal current nets, polythene and foreign cigarettes in Bhola. The estimated value of which is around 7 crore taka.
On Saturday (July 5), a covered van of S A Paribahan Courier Service in Bhola was searched and during the drive, they recovered 20 lakh ( 2 million) meters of banned fishing nets, 80 kg of polythene, 5,889 pieces of fireworks, and a large quantity of foreign cigarettes worth about Taka 7.8 crore from the covered van
Later, the seized nets were destroyed in the presence of the Upazila Fisheries Officer and the banned polythene was handed over to the Environment Department, cigarettes, Barisal Customs and fireworks to the Bhola Sadar Model Police Station.
Earlier in the morning, Coast Guard Southern Zone Media Officer Lt Commander Harun-or-Rashid confirmed all this information in a press release. It was possible for a secret tip-off, he added.
