Special Correspondent: Devout Muslims and Islamic scholars have demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of a self-proclaimed atheist and alleged Islam critic, Mufassil, who is currently in Bangladesh.
According to community members, Mufassir has been making derogatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Holy Quran on social media. They allege that under the guise of “free thought,” he had been running his activities from the United Kingdom after leaving Bangladesh. He has recently returned to the country and is reportedly reorganizing with his associates to resume his controversial activities, they said.
The group claims that the Muslim-born atheist regularly posts online content containing offensive and misleading statements about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his marriages, and about Prophet Ibrahim (AS), considered the father of the Muslim nation.
Several years ago, Mufassir sparked widespread outrage by tearing pages of the Holy Quran during a live broadcast on social media. The incident drew strong protests from devout Muslims in Bangladesh, the UK, and across the world, community members noted.
They further allege that Mufassir recently attempted to gain attention by making controversial remarks about Bangladesh’s current Prime Minister, Tareq Rahman.
Religious leaders warned that failure to arrest him immediately could lead to a serious deterioration of law and order. They urged law enforcement agencies to take swift action and bring him under exemplary punishment.
