Zakir Hossin, pirojpur: Incidents of road asphalt melting due to the ongoing severe heatwave are being reported in Pirojpur and several other regions across the country. Excessive temperatures are softening the bitumen, causing visible tire marks and surface deformation on the roads. Experts say such conditions can occur when temperatures remain around 40 degrees Celsius or higher for an extended period.

In different areas of Pirojpur, roads have shown clear signs of softened asphalt, with vehicle tire impressions becoming deeply embedded in the surface. This not only reduces the durability of the roads but also increases the risk of accidents for commuters. Officials concerned stated that the damage becomes more severe due to the movement of heavy vehicles.

Local residents said that under the intense daytime sun, the road surfaces become significantly soft. As vehicles pass over them, tire pressure leaves permanent marks on the asphalt.

Similar reports have also emerged from several other districts across the country. The Meteorological Department has warned that the ongoing heatwave may continue for a few more days, negatively affecting both public life and road infrastructure.
