Desk Report: Jamaat-e-Islami Central Working Council member and Dhaka City South Nayeb-e-Ameer Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin has accused the government of neglecting the families of July martyrs despite coming to power “over their blood.”
Speaking as chief guest at an event organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Paltan Thana on Wednesday afternoon, he said, “The government has no focus on the martyrs of the July uprising or their families. It is not standing by the injured July fighters either. It was the government’s moral duty to give priority to the July heroes, but it shows no concern. There is no state initiative to ease the suffering of martyr families.”
Dr. Helal Uddin said Jamaat-e-Islami has stood by the families of martyrs and the injured since the beginning of the July movement and will continue to do so.
At the event, financial assistance and sacrificial animals were distributed to families of July martyrs.
Dhaka City South Working Council member and Social Welfare Secretary Shahin Ahmed Khan, Paltan Thana Assistant Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman Shahin, Human Rights Division President Md. Abdur Rahman, and Secretary Md. Fazlur Rahman Miraz were also present at the moment.
Later in the afternoon, Dr. Helal Uddin distributed sacrificial animals and Eid gift items to families of July martyrs at a program organized by Motijheel East Thana. Local leaders of Motijheel East Thana were also present in the event.
