Discuss the country’s political situation

Diplomatic Correspondent: A delegation led by Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) newly elected Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju and General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad met with Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Reto Renggli at his residence on Thursday afternoon.

The party’s acting leader for international affairs Barrister-Nasrin Sultana Mili, and leader in charge of law, constitution and parliament Barrister Sunny Abdul Haque were part of the delegation.

Khaled Chowdhury, Senior Political, Economic and Press Officer of the embassy was also present at the time.

AB Party initially briefed Ambassador Renggli about the party’s formation, organizational structure, nationwide strength, electoral prospects and second-generation politics in 2020. The AB Party also believes that the traditional corruption-based hereditary politics and the past orientation of the leadership will not be able to fulfill the aspirations of the recent mass uprising. The politics of service, solving the daily problems of the people and formulating necessary policies based on research are the keys to future progress. Both our glorious liberation war of 1971 and the mass uprising of 2024 are part of our national struggle, but the AB Party on nation building and reforming fragile state institutions explained their positions on Rohingya repatriation, bilateral relations with development partners, democratic transformation, much-discussed reforms, recently published commission reports and the national election schedule. They also highlighted in their discussion why justice is so important for victims of genocide, crimes against humanity and human rights violations.

AB Party appreciates Bangladesh’s 52-year bilateral relations with Switzerland and its continued support for humanitarian causes in Bangladesh, especially for Rohingya refugees, since 2017. AB Party believes that Switzerland can help Bangladesh rebuild its advanced train network, modernize public transport, and support key IT sectors.
