Online Desk: Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) on Tuesday urged the government to take immediate steps in addressing current anarchic situation across the country and removing concern of the people over “division among the allies of the student-people uprising”.

“The interim government cannot avoid the responsibility of the conflicts, clashes and instability across the country during the last few months and division among the allies of the mass uprising,” AB Party Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Monju said.

Addressing a press conference at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU), he expressed concern over the ongoing unrest situation in different parts of the country, including the capital city and regarding the activities what to do to improve the situation.

AB Party Convenor Professor Dr Major (Retd) Abdul Wahab Minar answered different questions from the journalists at the press conference, said a press release.

Monju blamed the government saying the interim government, which was formed through a mass uprising at the cost of lives of hundreds of students and people, was seen “reluctant” to maintain unity among the stakeholders of the movement.

“The government is not taking into account the concerns of the people from all classes and professions regarding the price hikes of essentials”, he said adding all the movements and demands, which are being placed through demonstrations, could have been resolved through negotiations.

Monju said allegations of extortion, land grabbing, false cases and violence in educational institutions are not being properly addressed.

Expressing disappointment over the bloody clashes between students of educational institutions over trivial reasons, he criticised the role of the members of the security intelligence and law enforcement agencies to tackle the situation.

Criticizing the government’s policy on maintaining law and order, the AB Party member secretary said there is no softness in governing the state, rather it is necessary to follow the principle of justice and fairness.

“It would be regrettable if a popular personality like Nobel laureate Prof. Dr Muhammad Yunus cannot establish the peace in the country despite having full public support and the spirit of mass uprising and authority,” he added.

AB Party joint convener Advocate Golam Faruq, senior assistant member secretaries ABM Khalid Hasan and Aminul Islam and Dhaka City North Unit convener Altaf Hossain, Jubo Party convener Shahadatullah Tutul, assistant member secretaries Shah Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman, Dhaka city south joint convener Gazi Nasir, Dhaka city north member secretary Selim Khan, central committee members Sultana Razia, Shahinur Akhter Sheela, Amena Begum and Sumaiya Sharmin Farhana were present at the press conference among others.
