MM Rahmatullah: The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority has approved the appointment of Abul Kalam Azad as the Chief Executive Officer of Takaful Islami Insurance. The regulatory authority approved his appointment on November 26. Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, an experienced personality and insurer in the insurance industry, took over as the Chief Executive Officer after getting approval from the regulatory authorities.
Mr. Azad has had an illustrious career in the insurance industry. He joined Takaful Islami Insurance Limited on August 1, 2001 as Deputy General Manager and Company Secretary. Later he was promoted as Additional Managing Director. Before joining Takaful Islami Insurance, Mr. Azad served as Assistant General Manager and Company Secretary at Islami Insurance Bangladesh Limited for two years.
He obtained M.Com degree in Management from the University of Dhaka in 1982 and an Insurance Diploma from Insurance Academy in 2004.
Mr. Azad has various involvements in the promotion of insurance education. He is the guest speaker of Islami Bank Training and Research Academy, panel lecturer of Bangladesh Insurance Academy on Takaful issue, guest lecturer of Bangladesh Islamic University and faculty member of Eastern University. He presented Keynote Papers on Implementation of Islamic General and Life Insurance in Basic Foundation Course organized by Central Shariah Council in 2007 and 2009. He is holding the post of Assistant Secretary General of Central Shariah Council of Islamic Insurance of Bangladesh. He is also involved in various social organizations. He is Life Member of Feni Club Ltd. and Feni Samiti Dhaka, Joint Secretary of Feni Forum Dhaka, President of Fulgazi Forum, Dhaka and Member of Ihsan Foundation Dhaka. Mr. Azad participated in various trainings, seminars and workshops at home and abroad.
Mr. Azad traveled to many countries including Malaysia, India, Nepal, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands and Portugal for work
