Syed Atik: An advocacy meeting titled Trade Union Initiatives for Greening the Ready-Made Garment Industry was held in Tongi. The meeting of youth and women trade union leaders along with leaders of various professions of Tongi area was held at the Montage Polytechnic Institute auditorium on Friday morning.The meeting, organized by Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies (BILS) and supported by CFLI, was presided over by Nasrin Akhter Dina, General Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Mahila Sramik Dal. Zakia Begum Nilima, Program Officer of BILS Green Social Network, Shaheen Akhter, Organizing Secretary of Jatiya Sramik Jote, Helal Uddin, Program Coordinator, Shahjahan Shovon, Cultural Organizer, Maulana Mufti Alamgir Hossain, Abul Kashem Khan Swapan, Matiur Rahman Master, Kamrul Islam, Polly Gomez, among others, expressed their views on greening and preventing environmental pollution at the event.The speakers emphasized the need to take appropriate initiatives to green the Tongi garment industry, involving people from different walks of life, including the administration, media workers, and prominent figures in society.
