Syed Atik, Gazipur: Two sons of BNP leader Mohammad Dulal Mia were seriously injured in an attack by miscreants on the ‘Kasturi Hotel’ owned by him at Morkun TNT Bazar in Tongi, Gazipur city. The attack took place at around 8:30 pm yesterday. The injured are Shubh (29) and Shanto (24). Both of them are sons of Mohammad Dulal Mia, a candidate for the post of ward number 44 councilors of Gazipur City Corporation. They are permanent residents of Gopalpur area.
Eyewitnesses said that some unidentified youths had an argument with two hotel employees, Shahidul and Tarek. At one stage, they called 10-15 more people from outside and ambushed the hotel. The hotel was extensively vandalized in the attack and the hotel owner’s two sons, Shafiqul Islam Shuvo and Shahidul Islam Shanto, were seriously injured by being hacked with sharp weapons. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Tongi Government Hospital, but when their condition deteriorated, they were admitted to a private hospital in Uttara.
In this regard, Tongi East Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faridul Islam said, “We have heard about the incident and 3 people involved in the incident have been arrested.”
After the attack, panic prevailed in the entire area. Local residents demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers and exemplary punishment.
