Diplomatic Correspondent: Bangladesh has signed a government-to-government (G2G) agreement with Malaysia to import high-quality fertilizers aimed at boosting productivity and ensuring sustainable development in the agriculture sector. The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) and FELCRA Niaga Sdn Bhd (FNSB) of Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, according to a press release of Bangaldesh High Commission in Malaysia received here yesterday.
It said, the MoU lays the foundation for collaboration in the supply and distribution of premium-grade fertilizers, and is expected to open new avenues in joint ventures, agricultural research, technology exchange, capacity building, and increased trade opportunities.
The signing ceremony was attended by Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Md Shameem Ahsan, who termed the agreement a “significant milestone” in advancing multi-sectoral cooperation between the two friendly nations.
Datuk Dr Sangkar Raxam, Chairman of FELCRA Niaga Sdn Bhd, signed the MoU on behalf of the Malaysian side, while Bangladesh was represented by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mr Ahmed Faisal Imam.
Chairman of BADC Md Ruhul Amin Khan, Deputy High Commissioner of the Bangladesh High Commission Mosammat Shahanara Monica, were also present at the event along with other senior officials.
The release said the collaboration is poised to benefit farming communities and agricultural stakeholders in both countries by ensuring a reliable supply of quality fertilizers and fostering knowledge-sharing and technological advancement in agriculture.
