Staff Correspondent: Kamal Mosharef, a seasoned journalist with more than two decades of professional experience, is celebrating his birthday today. Currently serving as the Editor and Publisher of the weekly Jugoshankho and its online platform, he is widely recognized for his commitment to ethical journalism and professional excellence.
Born on April 3 in Borojalia Village under Hizla Upazila of Barishal District, Kamal Mosharef spent his formative years in a rural environment that played a significant role in shaping his values and perspectives. He later established his permanent residence in Kalikapur Village of the same upazila.
In his academic journey, he earned an LL.B from the National University and an LL.M from Dhaka International University. He further strengthened his expertise with a Master’s degree in Human Rights (LL.M in Human Rights). To complement his legal education with professional training, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).
Kamal Mosharef began his career in journalism with regional newspapers in Barishal, where he developed strong field reporting skills. In 2010, he moved to Dhaka and joined national media, working as a Senior Reporter for outlets including Shirsho News, Banglamail, and Bangladesher Khobor, where he gained recognition for his reporting.
Since October 1, 2018, he has been leading Jugoshankho as its Editor and Publisher. Under his leadership, the publication has grown into a credible, investigative, and reader-focused media outlet, emphasizing integrity, objectivity, and professionalism.
Beyond journalism, he has played active roles in professional organizations. He served as an Executive Member of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) for the 2017–2018 term and later as its Technology and Training Secretary for 2021–2022. He also contributed as a Director of the DRU Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited from 2018 to 2021.
Kamal Mosharef is affiliated with several professional and social organizations, including the Urban Development Journalists Forum Bangladesh, Religious Reporters Forum, Bangladesh Agricultural Journalists Forum (BAJF), and various Barishal-based journalist associations in Dhaka. He is also a lifelong member of the Barishal District Association in Dhaka.
As part of his professional development, he has participated in numerous training programs at home and abroad. His visits to countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, India, and Pakistan have enriched his global perspective on journalism.
