Special Correspondent: Justice for Comrades has demanded the formation of an independent commission to abolish the farcical board to address the deprivations of military officers dismissed and deprived during the fascist regime. They did not raise this demand at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Sunday.
Dismissed members of the military who participated in the press conference questioned why an independent investigation commission has not been formed after August 5. They alleged that many officers from the fascist regime are still in the force.
The speakers also demanded various reforms, including the military code of conduct, through an independent commission, so that in the future no member of the military is dismissed or unfairly affected without proper investigation and opportunity for self-defense.
Justice for Comrades coordinator and former Lieutenant Colonel Shamsul Islam said, “We appeal to the government’s chief advisor and the interim government to form an independent commission to deal with the cases of persecuted officers and members. At the same time, this commission should review the laws of the army, navy, and air force and establish a proper law so that our legal protection is ensured.”
