Staff Correspondent: The 12-day long Vijay Mela organized by Sammilita Sanskultur Jot, Tongi is gathering pace. Every day thousands of children, teenagers and visitors of different ages are walking in the fair premises. A variety of bahari stalls including handicrafts and cottage industries have been set up in the fair. Drama and cultural programs along with theme-based discussions are performed at the Vijay Manch of the Vijay Mela every afternoon. Acting Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Asadur Rahman Kiran was present as the chief guest on the third day of the fair on 16 December.
Under the Chairmanship of General Secretary of Combined Cultural Alliance Tongi Syed Atik, freedom fighter Md. Shahid Ullah, Councilor Nasir Uddin Molla and Principal of Tongi Pilot School and Girls College Md. Alauddin Mia participated in the discussion of Victory Day.
On the opening day of the Vijay Mela held at Tongi Government College Grounds on December 14, Ekushey Padak awardee Ramendu Majumdar, a prominent drama personality, was present as the chief guest and presided over by Alliance President Advt. Shaukat Ali. Shekanul Islam Shahi, convenor of the Vijay Mela Implementation Committee, gave his speech. State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel MP will be present as the chief guest on the concluding day of the fair on December 25.
On the occasion of Vijay Mela, a different kind of vibrancy has returned to Tongi’s cultural arena and artists.
