Online Desk: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said the defeated fascist forces are making evil attempts to create unrest in the country under an orchestrated plan.
The defeated fascist forces are trying to create a dangerous situation in an attempt to divert the victory of mass upsurge to a different direction,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul was addressing a views exchange meeting titled “Role of writers and artistes in rebuilding the state” organized by Jatiya Kabita Parishad at the seminar room of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC).
Fakhrul Islam said building a democratic Bangladesh is undoubtedly a complex work and writers and artists have an important role to play to rebuild the state on the basis of national unity.
The BNP secretary general opined that the state can’t be rebuilt without freedom of expression, urging writers and artistes to remain vigilant in this regard so that fascism doesn’t appear again.
He underscored the need for united efforts of all to resist the fascism.
Mirza Fakhrul urged the youths to extend cooperation to the interim government in performing its works properly.
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Mujahidul Islam Selim, JPC President poet Hasan Hafiz, writer and journalist Abu Sayeed Khan, journalist and poet Sohrab Hasan, writer and researcher Salimullah Khan, writer and journalist Mahbub Morshed, also Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Biplabi Workers Party general secretary Saiful Haque, former BNP lawmaker Nurul Islam Moni, Chief Coordinator of Ganosanhati Andolan Zonayed Saki, editor, poet Shawkat Hossain and Jatiya Kabita Parishad Member Secretary poet Rezauddin Stalin spoke, among others, on the occasion.

Mujahidul Islam Selim said that the sacrifices made by the people in this anti-fascist movement for the past 15 years are incomparable.
He said none will be allowed to destroy the achievements of the mass uprising.
The CPB leader called upon the writers and artists to be more vocal in social issues.
Salimullah Khan said a counter-revolution can be organized in the process of state rebuilding.
He urged the writers and artistes, as well as politicians, to remain vigilant against such attempts.
Writer and Journalist Mahbub Morshed said that poets, artistes and cultural activists have played a significant role in social reform throughout the ages.
He said the ousted fascist forces carried out brutal massacres in the history of Bangladesh. They launched mass killing on students and people indiscriminately to cling on to power, said Mahbub Morshed.
He called upon all to come forward in unison to resist the fascism.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna urged writers and artists to extend cooperation in building a new democratic state.
Writers and artists should be careful in building a healthy political culture, he added.
Zonayed Saki said that culture activists can play a big role in rebuilding the state.
The ousted fascist regime had built a large section of writers and artists as advocates of the regime.
Saiful Haque said he saluted the writers and artists who could say ‘no’ to fascist regime.
“We must be careful so that no more writers, poets and artists become allies of the dictator,” he said.
Mohan Raihan said if a fascist government wants to return, poets will be the first to resist.
