Bangladesh Muslim Nikah Registrar Welfare Association press conference held

Special Correspondent: Bangladesh Muslim Nikah Registrar Welfare Association has made 16 demands, including raising the age of marriage for girls to 16 and the age of boys to 18, to prevent child marriage. These demands were made at a press conference at the National Press Club on Tuesday.
Executive President of Bangladesh Muslim Nikah Registrar Welfare Association, Principal Dr. Md. Golam Kibria, read out a written statement at the press conference. He thanked Law Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul for abolishing the marriage tax.
The notable demands of Bangladesh Muslim Nikah Registrar Welfare Association are – To prevent child marriage, the age of marriage for girls should be raised to 16 and the age of boys to 18; a law should be enacted to protect Nikah registrars; the appointment of temporary Nikah registrars should be stopped. A new committee should be formed to appoint Nikah registrars and the recruitment process should be started through a panel; provision should be made for the son of a Nikah registrar who has the relevant qualifications to be directly appointed in the vacant post in place of his father; the educational qualification of Nikah registrars should be made Kamil instead of Alim.
Bangladesh Muslim Nikah Registrar Welfare Association President Kazi Md. Mamunur Rashid, Vice President Principal Nazrul Islam Talukder, Secretary General Advocate Kazi Maulana Md. Abul Hossain, Senior Joint Secretary General Mohammad Ashraf Uddin Bhuiyan Sayem, Organizing Secretary Kazi Md. Mofizul Islam, Central Leader Maulana Nurul Amin, Dhaka City Secretary Kazi Md. Azizur Rahman Sumon, Presidium Member Mr. Kazi Shahadatul Islam, Khulna District President Alhaj Maulana Mahbubur Rahman, General Secretary Md. Habibullah Sacchu, Dhaka City Organizing Secretary Kazi Maulana Shah Mahmud Reza were also attended among others at the event.
