Nur Uddin Jabed, Lakshmipur: Serious allegations of fraud, misconduct, and death threats have been raised against the owner and staff of the long-route passenger bus service ‘Dhaka Express’. A passenger, Shahadat Hossain, has filed a written complaint with Raipur Police Station in Lakshmipur in this regard.
According to the complaint, Shahadat Hossain (40) was traveling to Dhaka from the Raipur Bus Terminal in Lakshmipur at 11:45 PM on June 29, accompanied by his pregnant wife and young child. The journey was supposed to be on the ‘Dhaka Express’ (registration: Dhaka Metro Ba-12-2370). Reportedly, a slight delay of just five minutes led to verbal abuse by a bus staff member named Shahin.
When the bus reached the Chowmuhani intersection in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali, Shahadat and his family were forcibly removed from the vehicle by the bus manager Faisal and others.
Shahadat stated that he was an route to Dhaka for urgent business purposes and medical treatment for his wife. However, without any valid reason, they were forced off the bus, which then drove away without refunding the ticket fare. He was subjected to verbal abuse and death threats during the incident.
Due to this unexpected situation, the family had to return home late at night. Shahadat claimed he suffered a financial loss of around Tk 3,000 for the interrupted journey and approximately Tk 1.5 lakh in business losses due to missing critical meetings.
He has named bus owner Ferdousi Begum, manager Faisal, staff members Shahin and Mamun, along with several unidentified individuals, in his official complaint to the police.
Despite multiple attempts, the Dhaka Express authorities could not be reached for comment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raipur Police Station, Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, confirmed receipt of the complaint and stated that appropriate legal action will be taken following an investigation.
