City Desk: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) has been held. It was presided over by DRU President Mursalin Nomani.

The meeting was held on Wednesday (November 29) from 10 am. On the occasion of the AGM, the entire Segunbagicha area became lively with the march of DRU members.

At the beginning of the AGM, condolence resolutions are presented for members who have died in the past year. A minute of silence was observed in their memory. Then the financial report of 2023 was presented.

DRU General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel presented the ‘General Secretary’s’ report to the members. The AGM ended with the presentation of constitutional amendment proposal, discussion on the presented report and finally the approval of the general secretary’s report and financial report.

DRU president Mursalin Nomani said in the meeting, Dhaka Reporters Unity is the largest organization of professional journalists in Dhaka. We have arranged various training sessions for these journalists to improve their professional standards. Apart from this, we have taken various developmental activities for them in health care, culture and other areas. This organization is uncompromising on the issue of journalists’ rights and I think it will remain so in the future.

The election will be held next Thursday after the Annual General Meeting. DRU members will vote to elect new leadership for a one-year term.
