Special Correspondent: Deeply concerned and condemning the despicable attack by the fascist Hasina government’s allies on the NCP’s previously announced March to Gopalganj program in Gopalganj, the attack on law enforcement agencies including the UNO, and the arson of vehicles, Bangladesh Muslim League President Adv. Mohsin Rashid and Secretary General Kazi Abul Khair issued a joint statement on Wednesday, demanding the interim government to immediately arrest the attackers and ensure exemplary punishment.
The allies of the dictatorial Awami government, who attacked a previously announced program of a political party, want to destabilize the country again and bring back the fascist regime. The Bangladesh Muslim League believes that the disagreements of some important political parties on some issues including election timing, PR, state structure reform have emboldened the fascists to carry out this barbaric incident. The two senior politicians have expressed their fear that if the political parties guided by nationalist and Islamic values forget their differences and fail to establish a consensus, it may give the fascists an opportunity to re-establish themselves. Realizing that it will be difficult to confront fascist and foreign aggressive forces without an elected government, the Bangladesh Muslim League has called on all political parties to agree on a logical point on the election system and reforms as soon as possible and to cooperate with the interim government in organizing the elections.
