Special Correspondent: In accordance with the directive of the humanitarian District Commissioner (DC) of Narayanganj, Zahidul Islam Miya, the District Livestock Department has started selling eggs, milk, beef, and broiler chicken at affordable prices. From Sunday, the sale of these essential items began at three key points in the district.
District Livestock Officer Abdul Mannan Mia mentioned, “Under the direction of the DC and with overall cooperation, we have started selling eggs, milk, beef, and broiler chicken at affordable prices through mobile sales centers.” The DC Zahidul Islam inaugurated this program on Sunday.
At this time, the DC said that this special initiative for the marginalized people will continue until the day before Eid. The service will be provided at three designated locations in Narayanganj city: in front of the DC’s office, Chashadha Mor, and Torkari Math. Under this initiative, eggs will be sold at 100 Taka per dozen, milk at 80 Taka per liter, beef at 650 Taka per kilogram, and dressed broiler chicken at 250 Taka per kilogram.
The district’s guardian expressed optimism that through this initiative, common people, especially those from lower and middle-income groups, will be able to purchase nutritious food at affordable prices.
Thanking the Nitaiganj Business Association and the leading soybean oil importers of the country, DC Zahidul Islam said, “They promised to follow the district administration’s directives to keep the prices of essential items reasonable. So far, they have been keeping their word. Through truck sales, top business organizations are selling soybean oil, sugar, and many other products at much lower prices in the market. As a result, there is no shortage of soybean oil and other essential items in Narayanganj.”
Zahidul Islam further added, “I hope that this time, the people of Narayanganj, especially the common people, will be able to celebrate Eid more comfortably.”
