Special Correspondent: Since its inception, the AB Party has been working to establish the rights of the people. It also led the movement to overthrow autocratic rule. The fallen fascist government looted and transferred the country’s wealth abroad, destroying the nation’s economy. Professor Moin Uddin Khan Ripon has stated that an interim government must take strong steps to bring back the embezzled money.
He made this comment as the chief guest at the 10th day of the ongoing mass Iftar event organized by the Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party). Party’s Senior Vice Chairman Professor Dr. Major (Retd.) Abdul Wahab Minar presided over the event, where Joint General Secretary Altaf Hossain moderated it. Other speakers included AB Youth Party’s General Secretary Hadiuzzaman Khokon, Dhaka North’s Secretary General Selim Khan, Agricultural Affairs Assistant Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Ranjoo, Dhaka South’s Joint Secretary Barakaz Nasir Ahmad, and Assistant Secretary for Voluntary Service and Public Welfare Kefayet Hossain Tanveer.
In his speech, Professor Moin Uddin Khan Ripon said, “We saw in the July student movement that the AB Party was the first political group to take to the streets. Moreover, in the previous fascist anti-government movement, AB Party’s struggle was remarkable. We will not allow any more extortionists to rise; this country belongs to the people, it is not anyone’s father’s or husband’s. The path of limitless corruption must be permanently blocked to move Bangladesh forward. The Sheikh family is a family of thieves; their job was to plunder and transfer the country’s money abroad.” He urged the interim government to take quick steps to bring back the embezzled funds. He also remarked, “Many who were silent during the previous government’s time are now jumping around on talk shows, something we never saw in the past 16 years.”
In the chairperson’s speech, the party’s Senior Vice Chairman Professor Dr. Abdul Wahab Minar said, “Even after 53 years of independence, our citizens are still deprived of their rights. The recent news of increasing rapes has deeply troubled and disgusted us. With the army on the streets, how are incidents of rape, theft, robbery, and snatching still occurring? The interim government must answer for this.” He further questioned the interim government, saying, “In this deteriorating law and order situation, how can fair elections take place? First, establish control over law and order, then think about elections. Under such fragile circumstances, it is impossible to hold fair elections.”
The mass Iftar event also saw the participation of AB Party’s Joint General Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun Rana, ABM Khalid Hassan, Student Wing’s Convenor Muhammad Prince, Assistant Organizing Secretary (Dhaka) Shahjahan Byapari, Assistant Secretary for Voluntary Service and Public Welfare Toffazzal Hossain Romiz, Youth Party’s Office Secretary Amanullah Sardar Russell, Assistant Secretary for Women’s Development Shahinur Akter Shila, Assistant Office Secretary Abdul Halim Nannu, Shoron Chowdhury, Mashiur Rahman Milu, Assistant Finance Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique, Assistant Publicity Secretary Ripon Mahmud, Azadul Islam Azad, AB Youth Party’s Dhaka South Secretary Masudur Rahman, Paltan Thana’s Convenor Munsi Abdul Kader, Jatrabari Thana Convenor Arif Sultan, along with central, metropolitan, youth wing, and student wing leaders of various levels.
