Online Desk: Female students in the HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) and equivalent examinations-2024 have outnumbered their male counterparts in achieving higher pass rate and a greater number of GPA-5 achievers.

Girls outperformed boys in all the 11 education boards in terms of pass rate while in achieving greater number of GPA-5 holders, all education boards also witnessed a significant dominance by girls except the Madrasah board.

Of the 6,65,045 girls, who took part in HSC and equivalent exams, 79.95 percent of them came out successfully. In comparison, the pass rate among the 6,66,013 boys, who appeared for the tests was 75.61 percent.

A total of 80,933 female examinees secured GPA-5 while 64,978 male students (15,955 less than their female counterparts) got maximum grade point average, according to the results published here today.

The result shows that the pass rate for girls in the nine general education boards is 78.27 percent, while it stands at 72.55 percent for boys.

In Dhaka board, 24,353 female students, out of 165,207, earned GPA-5 with girl’s pass rate of 79.95 percent while 24, 195 male students, out of 1, 49, 500 managed to make it with a lower pass rate of 78.40 percent.

A total of 14, 597 female students, out of 65,367 examines, earned GPA-5 with a pass rate of 87.00 percent in the Rajshahi board whereas only 10,305 male students, out of 71,817, got maximum grade point in the Rajshahi board with a lower pass rate of 76.oo percent.

In Cumilla board, 4,954 female students, out of 64,247 examines, earned GPA-5 with a pass rate of 73.70 percent whereas 2968 male students, out of 48065 managed to make it with a lower pass rate 67.74 percent.

In Jashore board, 5,665 female students, out of 61,384 examines, earned GPA-5 with a pass rate of 69.26 percent whereas 4,084 male students, out of 61,127 achieved maximum GPA-5 along with the board having the years’ lowest pass rate 59.30 percent for boys.

In Chattogram board, 5,759 female students, out of 57,333 examines, earned GPA-5 with a pass rate of 72.49 percent whereas 4,510 male students, out of 48,083, managed to make it with a lower pass rate of 67.72 percent.

A total of 2,804 female students, out of 34,094, got maximum grade GPA-5 with a pass rate of 87.18 percent in the Barishal education board while 1,363 male students from 31,993 examinees got GPA-5 along with the board having a lower pass rate 76.16 percent for boys.

Sylhet board also witnessed girl’s domination as a total of 3,829 female students, out of 49,354, secured GPA-5 with a pass rate of 86.44 percent whereas 2,869 male students, out of 33,811, managed to make it with a lower pass rate of 83.85 percent.

In Dinajpur education board, 8,110 female students, out of 57,139 examines, earned GPA -5 with a pass rate of 81.01 percent whereas 6,185 male students, out of 54,976, managed to make it with a lowest pass rate of 73.97 percent.

Mymensingh education board saw girl domination as 2,717 female students out of 40,168, earned GPA- 5 with a pass rate of 65.06 percent while 2,109 boys from 54,976 examinees got the highest GPA with a lower pass rate of 61.24 percent.

In the Technical education board, female students outnumbered male students in terms of both getting GPA-5 and the pass rate as 3,392 female students out of 29,424, earned GPA-5 with a pass rate of 93.03 percent whereas only 1,530 male students out of 71,332, managed to make it with a lower pass rate of 86.20 percent.

However, female students were behind in terms of GPA-5 though they surpassed them in the pass rate. In the board, 4,860 male students got GPA-5 while 4,753 female students managed to make it.

But the girl students surpassed their male counterparts in terms of pass rate in the board with the girls’ pass rate of 94.87 percent which is 92.16 percent for boys.

A number of 13, 31,058 examinees—6,66,013 male and 665045 female– appeared in the HSC and equivalent examinations under the country’s 11 education boards this year. Of them, 10, 35,309 students—5, 03,595 male and 531714 female– have come out successfully.

Among the passed students, a total of 1, 45,911 candidates got GPA-5 in the examinations. Of the total, 64,978 are male and 80,993 female students.
