Staff Reporter, Dhaka: Abdul Hannan Farhad has built his political career from the grassroots and now serves at the central level of student politics, driven by a commitment to resist domination and injustice.
Farhad grew up in a modest family in Uttar Joypur village under Lakshmipur Sadar upazila. He began his education at a local government primary school and later completed his secondary studies at Palpara D.M. High School. He finished higher secondary education at Kafil Uddin Degree College.
He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Government Titumir College. He also completed an LLB from Metropolis Ideal Law College.
To strengthen his professional skills, he received CA (CC) training at Pinaki and Co Chartered Accountants and now studies at the professional level at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.
Farhad started his political journey in 2006 as general secretary of Ward 4 unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. He became president of the same ward unit in 2008. He later served as joint general secretary and vice-president of Titumir College Chhatra Dal, where he showed strong organisational ability.
He now works as assistant organising secretary of the central committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. Many see his rise from grassroots activism to the central stage as a source of inspiration.
Farhad views politics as a means to serve people and establish a just society. He said he aims to fight domination and injustice through political engagement and work for the country’s welfare and the protection of public interest.
He stressed the need to safeguard Bangladesh’s sovereignty and territorial integrity above all. He said the ideals of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia can guide efforts to build a modern, liveable and self-reliant Bangladesh. He also highlighted the importance of collective efforts and national unity to achieve this goal.
Farhad said he will continue to work for the welfare of the country and its people in the future.
