BSS, DHAKA: Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has attended the oath taking ceremony of Maldives newly elected President and Vice-President held at its capital Male’s Republic Square.
President Mohammed Muizzu and Vice President Hussain Mohammad Latheef took the oath yesterday evening. The information minister joined the function on behalf of Bangladesh, said a release received here today.
South Asian neighbours attended the ceremony included Sri Lankan President, Vice President of Seychelles, special envoys and ministers of China, India, Pakistan, Turkey and the UAE, among others.
Peoples’ National Congress Candidate Mohammed Muizzu won the elections held in two phases on September 9 and 30 last and defeated Maldivians Democratic Party candidate former President Ibrahim Mohammad Solih.
Mohammed Muizzu has won 54.03 percent of the vote.
Cooperation between Bangladesh and Maldives continues in the fields of education, health, culture, youth and sports, aviation, information technology etc.
