Patuakhali correspondent: A human chain and rally has been held demanding withdrawal of the transfer order of Galachipa Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Mizanur Rahman of the district.
The program was held in front of the old UNO office in Galachipa at 11 am on Monday.
People from different classes and professions of Galachipa Upazila, representatives of civil society, political leaders and activists and the general public participated in the human chain. They highly praised UNO Mizanur Rahman’s people-friendly administration, efficiency and sincerity and expressed disappointment over his sudden transfer order.
Former President of Galachipa Municipality BNP Md. Rafiqul Islam Khan, former BNP office secretary Abdus Subahan Mia, businessman Mohammad Kamal Khan and others spoke at the rally.
The speakers said, “UNO Mizanur Rahman has worked tirelessly to serve the people, fight corruption and establish administrative discipline since joining Galachipa. His transfer is a big blow to the local people.”
They strongly demanded that the concerned authorities immediately withdraw the UNO’s transfer order and retain him in Galachipa.
At the end of the rally, a memorandum was submitted to the Barisal Divisional Commissioner through the Patuakhali District Commissioner.
According to the locals, the sudden transfer of a responsible and people-friendly administrator can have a negative impact on the development and public services of the area. They hope that the government will quickly reconsider the decision, respecting the public demand.
