Staff Correspondent: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said India has been trying to destroy Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) sector to capture its markets abroad.

“So, it is needed to form a taskforce immediately to save the (RMG) industry from the local and foreign conspiracies,” he said while addressing as the chief guest a rally organized by Gazipur district and City unit of Jatiyatabadi Shramik Dal at Konabari Degree College in Gazipur city.

The BNP leader said ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cohorts along with foreign power have been destabilizing the country’s RMG industry mainly to making the country’s economy weak.

“Getting no way, Sheikh Hasina and her cohorts have been trying to create anarchy in the country.  Fascist Sheikh Hasina has fled the country, but her evil existence is still there in the country,” he said.

The cohorts of Sheikh Hasina are hatching conspiracy against the state as they are yet to forget that they were involved in looting and stealing the country’s money and siphoned off those abroad, he added.

The BNP Secretary General said, “They were thinking that if they would have been able to bring Sheikh Hasina back, then they could have been able to steal and loot the money again.

“So, they are out to destroy the country’s industries especially the RMG sector. Foreign power has been working with them,” he said, adding that they are doing so because they have interest as they know, they will get export-orders of the RMG if the apparel sector in Bangladesh is destroyed”.

Fakhrul claimed Awami League’s involvement in destabilize the country’s industries particularly the RMG after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5 following the students-people mass-uprising.

Addressing to the party leaders and activists, the BNP Secretary General said that “We’ve to protect this industry. You get together with the labourers to resist them.”

“Remember that 50 lakh people of the country are involved in this sector. Majority of our foreign currency earnings come from this industry,” he added.

Pointing finger to fascist Sheikh Hasina, Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that many of BNP leaders and activists, workers, day-laborers and students were killed during the fascist regime.

He said that Sheikh Hasina has destroyed the entire state system to stay in power, especially the police were used to torture people. “Now, we can breathe, sleep peacefully.”

About the interim government, the BNP Secretary General said that Professor Muhammad Yunus is respected by people all over the world and he formed the government with some prominent persons of the country.

“We’ve requested them to hold elections within a reasonable time through cleaning the mess of Awami League,” he said, adding, “We want to vote, elect the government and parliament through voting.”

Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “We’ve urged the government of India not to give shelter to the killer, who committed genocide in the country, accused in numerous murder cases, and destroyed the country’s democracy.”

“They didn’t respond to our request,” he added.

The BNP Secretary General said that they have requested the interim government to write a letter to India to send Sheikh Hasina, the destroyer of the country, back to face trial.

Reiterating his demand for holding election quickly, Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the mess created by Awami League should be cleared for holding election as soon as possible.

“The present government has started working and people expect that the government will listen to them as they want to elect their representatives,” he added.

With Sramik Dal Executive President Salahuddin Sarkar in the chair, BNP Standing Committee member Professor Dr. Zahid Hossain, Special Assistant to the BNP Chairperson Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, BNP Assistant Labor Secretary Humayun Kabir Khan, Sramik Dal President Anwar Hossain, BNP Executive Committee Members Mojibur Rahman and Hasan Uddin Sarkar, and Gazipur City BNP President Shawkat Hossain Sarkar, among others, also spoke.
