Moon Desk: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism have martyred 18 Kashmiris including a woman so far this year.
According to a report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, eight of these Kashmiris were martyred in fake encounters or in custody.
The killings by the troops rendered five women widowed and nine children orphaned.
During the period, Indian troops, police and sleuths of the dreaded National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency arrested as many as 322 Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth, students, journalists, and human rights activists. At least 48 persons were injured due to the use of brute force on peaceful protesters by the Indian forces’ personnel. Two houses were also damaged by the troops during cordon and search operations in the period.
The troops martyred three youth in the last month of March.
The report said India is using state terrorism as an official policy to punish the Kashmiris for challenging its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir. It maintained that the IIOJK witnessed a new wave of Indian oppression after fascist Narendra Modi attained power in India as fake encounters, killings, abductions and torture by Indian troops have become a routine matter in the territory.
The report added that Indian troops’ brutalities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir increased to an alarming proportion after the RSS-backed Modi regime revoked the special status of the territory on 5 August 2019.
