DU Correspondent: The Inquilab Mancha has announced a mass hunger strike in front of the Chief Advisor’s residence, Jamuna, with three demands, including ensuring the safety of students participating in the anti-discrimination student movement.

“The July Fighters have announced a mass hunger strike in front of the Chief Advisor’s residence, demanding the immediate arrest of all Awami League terrorists responsible for genocide and the cancellation of Awami League’s registration to ensure the safety of the July Fighters.” – was written on their banner.

The program began in front of the National Museum on December 22, 2024, at 12 PM with slogans and a press conference. Then the procession moved towards the Jamuna, the residence of the Chief Advisor, at around 12:30 PM .

A statement signed by Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha, mentions the following three demands:

“Three Demands of the July Fighters to the Honorable Chief Advisor to Save the Lives of Students and Citizens Who Participated in the July Revolution:

1. The registration of the genocidal party, Awami League, must be immediately canceled.

2. To protect patriotic students and citizens from the clandestine killings perpetrated by the terrorist Awami League, all criminals associated with the Awami League, from central to union levels, must be immediately arrested.

3. Complete security of life must be ensured for all July fighters across Bangladesh, including those in private universities.”

When they tried to reach in front of Jamuna , the residence of the Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus , They faced obstruction from the police. Later, they posted on their page: “We are holding a mass hunger strike  In front of the Chief Justice’s residence  in Kakrail.”

The Inquilab Mancha has announced a program to besiege and stage a sit-in at the Secretariat on Sunday, December 29, 2024 , If the registration of the Awami League is not canceled within the next seven days.

Earlier, on Thursday (December 19), Inquilab Mancha gave the government a 48-hour ultimatum to arrest the killers, accusing them of murdering five students active in the July-August mass Uprising . The platform’s leaders and activists also warned that if the arrests were not made within this time, they would begin a hunger strike in front of the Chief Advisor’s residence at the state guest house, Jamuna, on Sunday.
