Md. Morshed Alam: A prolonged land dispute which had been ongoing in court was brought to a quick resolution. Senior Assistant Judge Md. Abdul Alim conducted an on-site inspection of the disputed land as ordered by the court, and he immediately settled the land dispute between both parties.The  esteemed Senior Assistant Judge Md. Abdul Alim of Hajiganj Upazila, Chandpur district, visited the disputed land of a civil case under his jurisdiction in Hajiganj Upazila in the 23’rd May on Friday.

The incident took place in Natehara village, under West Barkul Union No. 7 of Hajiganj Upazila. During the inspection, the plaintiff, defendant, their lawyers, the court clerk, police, surveyors, and local dignitaries were all present. In everyone’s presence, the learned judge, with the consent and eagerness of both the plaintiff and defendant, finalized the resolution of the land dispute that had persisted for several years and permanently demarcated the boundaries of the disputed land. Both parties involved in the case expressed their satisfaction with this benevolent initiative by the esteemed court.

The plaintiff and defendant, who were seeking justice, were overcome with emotion at this immediate compromise settlement of the land dispute. At that moment, the plaintiff and defendant embraced each other and pledged to maintain a cordial relationship in future. Local residents were present at the scene remarked that through this on-site inspection by the court, the justice-seeking public received justice at their doorstep in a short time and at low cost. The local community expressed their hope for more such initiatives from the court.

According to court information, some time ago, the plaintiff in the case had applied to the Hajiganj Upazila Senior Assistant Judge’s Court under Order 18, Rule 18 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, and provisions related to ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution), requesting an on-site inspection of the disputed land to achieve an immediate compromise settlement. During the hearing of this application, the defendant raised no objection. Subsequently, the learned court, after hearing the statements of both parties, decided to conduct an on-site inspection of the disputed land. Accordingly, today, during the on-site inspection, the learned judge successfully provided a permanent solution to the land dispute in the case.

At the time, the plaintiff Md. Shafiqur Rahman, defendant Md. Mominul Haque Talukdar, Advocate Md. Nurul Haque, Advocate Md. Alamgir Hossain, and other local dignitaries were present.
