Staff Correspondent: Abbas Uddin, a courageous participant in the historic July Movement of 2024, is now fighting to protect his life and property in an independent country. He alleges that, in collusion with some corrupt members of the administration, a local terrorist group is making a planned attempt to grab his land and openly threatening to kill him.
Threats Originating from Testimony – The incident began on April 25, 2025, when Abbas Uddin testified in an important case at the International Crimes Tribunal. Later, on May 30, 2025, the daily Amar Desh published an investigative report detailing various crimes of Fatulla Thana Awami League Vice President and known land grabber Mostafa Kamal. Following the publication of that report, the threats against Abbas Uddin intensified.
Attempted Land Grabbing Under Political Protection – Local sources claim that, with political influence and the covert support of the administration, this group has long been planning to seize land owned by Abbas Uddin. The police have effectively remained silent spectators, sparking strong resentment among locals.
Armed Attack and Death Threats – Most recently, on August 9, 2025, at noon, under the leadership of Mostafa Kamal’s brother-in-law Ujjal Khan, associate Abdur Rahim, and multiple murder case accused “Kala Kamal,” a group of about 40–50 armed terrorists entered Abbas Uddin’s land and attempted to seize it. At that time, he was openly threatened with death. The incident triggered tension in the area, and Abbas Uddin’s family fell into deep fear.
Abbas Uddin’s Outrage- “I fought for this country with my life. Now, in an independent nation, I have to fight just to protect my own life and property. If the administration is not impartial, freedom fighters like me will be in even greater danger.”
Family in Insecurity, Locals in Anger – Residents of the area demand immediate and strict legal action against the terrorist group and assurance of the safety of Abbas Uddin and his family. Otherwise, the situation could take a dangerous turn.
General Diary Filed, Yet Police Remain Silent – On August 10, 2025, following the incident, Abbas Uddin’s wife Rahima Akter filed a General Diary (GD) at Demra Police Station, GD No. 633. However, at the time of writing this report, no visible action had been taken by the police.
