Moon Desk: Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Ambassador Sardar Masood Khan has said that the Kashmir issue is once again in the global spotlight, with the international community now more aware than ever of India’s duplicity and Pakistan’s principled stance.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ambassador Masood, in an interview with a local news channel, emphasized that India has long tried to bury the Kashmir dispute through a cycle of bilateral overtures followed by unilateral aggression. However, the world, he said, is no longer willing to look the other way.
“After India’s illegal annexation of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019, there was a brief decline in global attention. But President Trump’s recent interventions have reignited the debate. Kashmir is firmly back on the international radar—despite India’s consternation,” he remarked.
Ambassador Masood warned that India’s tactics—from pushing bilateralism to erasing international commitments—are now well known and have failed. “The bilateral approach has been exposed as a mirage. It is time for the global community to realize that international mechanisms must play a role in resolving the Kashmir dispute.”
He underscored the need for Pakistan to advocate for Kashmir from a position of strength—economically, politically, and strategically. “That is both the challenge and the opportunity,” he added.
On the issue of water security, Sardar Masood strongly condemned India’s attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty. “This is not just a legal matter—it’s a question of Pakistan’s survival. India’s actions violate both international law and the treaty’s binding framework. Pakistan should raise the matter at the United Nations Security Council and also engage China as an upper riparian state. We will not compromise on our water rights,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, President of the Institute of Peace and Development (INSPAD), Dr. Muhammad Tahir Tabassum, has said that the ongoing struggle and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people are reminiscent of the spirit and perseverance of the early Muslims in the first century of Islam.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr. Muhammad Tahir expressed these views while speaking at a luncheon he hosted in Rawalakot. The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Khan, Registrar of the University of Poonch, Rawalakot. Senior journalist and member of the Board of Governors of the Press Foundation, Sardar Aijaz Khaleeq Khan, attended as the chief guest.
He emphasized that the tireless efforts of the Kashmiri people will never go in vain, and strongly condemned India and Israel for violating all international laws in Kashmir and Palestine, respectively.
Dr. Tabassum called on the United Nations and other global bodies to impose the strictest sanctions on both India and Israel. He urged them to ensure an immediate ceasefire in Palestine, an end to mass killings, and serious human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK). He also demanded the unconditional release of all incarcerated Kashmiri leaders.
The luncheon was also attended by Secretary General of the Sadhan Educational Conference Dr. Ghulam Hussain Khan, former Dean Prof. Dr. Salim Khan, President of the Bar Sardar Sabir Kashmiri Advocate, former Bar President Sardar Asim Irshad Advocate, former Administrator and PML-N leader Sardar Zakir Khan, Dr. Fiaz Naqi, Dr. Nawaz Khan, Sardar Aamir Jahangir Khan, Sardar Zahid Aslam, and Sardar Anwar Khan.
Among the media representatives present were senior journalists Sardar Abid Siddique, Sardar Abdul Razzaq, Sardar Rashid Nazir, Chaudhry Badruddin, Shahzad Abbasi, Sardar Adnan Ashraf, and Sardar Ahsan Irshad.
