Online Desk: Under the shadow of Modi regime’s recent intensification of oppressive measures in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri people’s struggle for right to self-determination remains undeterred.
According to Kashmir Media Service, political experts and Kashmir watchers in their interviews said that the current Indian government has systematically deployed force, intimidation, and widespread crackdowns in an attempt to silence the Kashmiris’ call for freedom.
They said New Delh’s approach to Kashmir has seen a surge in arbitrary arrests and extrajudicial actions aimed at quashing dissent, adding that individuals advocating for the right to self-determination are facing severe harassment, torture, and even extrajudicial killings. “Agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the State Investigation Agency (SIA) have been weaponized to target those championing the cause of freedom, further fueling the climate of fear and repression”.
They said that the Modi regime’s cruel tactics extend to extensive surveillance and censorship, designed to control the narrative within IIOJK. They maintained that the Indian government’s policy of collective punishment reflects a broader attempt to suppress the demand for a United Nations-mandated plebiscite, aiming to quell the Kashmiri people’s aspirations for a referendum on their future.
Despite these measures, the political experts and Kashmir watchers said that the resilient spirit of the Kashmiri people remains unbroken as they continue their struggle for freedom and self-determination against overwhelming odds.
Stating that the situation in IIOJK underscores a stark contrast between India’s self-proclaimed democratic values and its actions in the territory, they urged the international community to recognize and address the ongoing injustices faced by the people of Kashmir and to support their right to freely express their will.
