Araihajar Correspondent: The police have arrested the victim’s husband Rafiq (35) and father-in-law Alam (58) in the case of inducing the suicide of Nurjahan (30), a housewife and mother of one child in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj. They were arrested from their home on Saturday night. The deceased Nurjahan is the daughter of Suruj Mia of Doyakanda village of Bishnondi union.
According to the details of the incident, the police recovered Nur Jahan’s body from his house on the morning of June 13. At that time, family members including the deceased’s husband Rafiq said that Nurjahan committed suicide by hanging herself. But the local residents said that Rafiq showed Nurjahan the video of his affair with another girl. When Nur Jahan protested, Rafiq and his family tortured him mentally and physically and forced him to commit suicide.
Suruj Mia, the father of the deceased, filed a case in Araihajar police station on the charge of inciting suicide.
Azizul Haque Howladar, OC of Araihazar Police Station, said that the deceased’s husband and father-in-law have been sent to the court.
