MM Rahmatullah: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has delivered 100 tons of dates to the Bangladesh as a gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its ongoing humanitarian efforts to support communities in need around the world.
An official ceremony marking the occasion was held at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka on Thursday. The event was attended by Chargé d’Affaires Khalid Haddal, along with Muhammed Bashir, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Md. Rasel Subrin, Director, and Mohammad Jahangir Ali Khan, Deputy Director, from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
Also present was Adnan Alenazi, representative of KSrelief. The ceremony was directed and moderated by Yasir Sheshah, Director of Political and Media Affairs at the Saudi Embassy.
The shipment, consisting of approximately 12,500 cartons of dates, recently arrived in Bangladesh and was officially received by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, which will oversee distribution across different districts of the country.
According to officials, the dates will be distributed among vulnerable families and communities, particularly ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, when dates hold special cultural and religious significance for Muslims as they are traditionally used to break the daily fast.
The donation forms part of Saudi Arabia’s annual global dates distribution program, under which the Kingdom provides dates to many countries each year.
Under the leadership of Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and with the continued support of Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia has significantly expanded its humanitarian outreach worldwide. KSrelief serves as the Kingdom’s principal platform for delivering humanitarian assistance, emergency relief, and development support to communities affected by crises.
Officials from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief expressed their appreciation for the contribution, noting that such initiatives strengthen bilateral relations and provide meaningful assistance to thousands of families across Bangladesh.
Saudi Arabia continues to play a leading role in global humanitarian efforts, contributing to food security, healthcare, emergency relief, and sustainable development programs. The delivery of these dates symbolizes the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the people of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.
Among the attendees were Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, Professor at the University of Dhaka, along with senior officials from the Saudi Embassy including Masudur Rahman and Raisa.
