Lakshmipur Correspondent: The bi-annual general meeting and election of Laxmipur District Reporters Unity, an organization of talented journalists was held. The meeting was held at Green Chili Chinese restaurant in the district town on Tuesday at 11 am. An executive committee of 15 members was formed by the unanimous consent of the members, with Md. Rafiqul Islam, Laxmipur representative of Daily Khabar Kagaz, as president and Gazi Momin, district representative of Daily Bangladesh Kantha, as general secretary.
Professor ZM Farooqui, former principal of Chowmuhani SA College and district president of Transparency International (TIB) Lakshmipur, was the chief guest at the meeting. Former principal of Laxmipur Government College, prominent educationist and cultural figure Prof. Main Uddin Pathan, former president of District Lawyers Association and editor of Daily Alokita Laxmipur newspaper Advocate Md. Hafizur Rahman, prominent journalist and educationist Prof. Gazi Giasuddin, General of Laxmipur Press Club spoke as special guests. Editor and District Representative of News Twentyfour Mohammad Saidul Islam Pavel, General Secretary of District Journalist Union and Independent Television Lakshmipur Representative Mohammad Abbas Hossain, Press Club Office Editor and Maasranga Television Representative Shaker Mohammad Russell and Daily Kartowa Representative AQM Shahab Uddin.
The other members of the newly formed committee are co-president Habibur Rahman Sabuj, editor of daily Lakshmipur daily and Zahirul Islam Shiblu of our economy, Abdul Malek Nirab, co-general editor of Amar Barta, finance editor Kazi Osman Morshed of daily current affairs, organizing editor Rajib Hossain Raju of Dhaka Times, sports Editor Daily Janbani Safayet Sakib, Literary Editor Daily Yugantar (Raipur Correspondent) Tabarak Hossain Azad, Publicity Editor Sabuj Nishan Faisal Kabir, Social Welfare Editor Ittefaqer (Digital) Nooruddin Jabed, Executive members are MJ Alam of Desh Rupantar, Ahmed Ali of Mukta Khabar and Rezaul Karim Sumon is the representative of Dainik Samachar.
Leaders of the newly formed Laxmipur District Reports Unit pledged to work for the welfare of the country and the nation with members who have a bachelor’s degree and are active in journalism.
