HM Mohiuddin, Comilla: A murder case has been registered against 62 people, including former Member of Parliament of Comilla Sadar Constituency AKM Bahauddin Bahar and his elder daughter Comilla City Corporation Mayor Tahsin Bahar. Another 400 people have been named as accused.
A person named Abdul Hannan filed the case as plaintiff at Comilla Sadar South Police Station on Sunday night. Sadar South Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
According to the statement of the case, on the afternoon of August 4, the students of Comilla led a protest march in Kotbari Bishwaroad area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Nandanpur under the leadership of anti-discrimination student movement. At that time Bahar and his daughter Sochna ordered their followers to shoot at the students indiscriminately. In this, Masum Mia (20), son of Shaheen Mia of North Rampur, Ward No. 22 of Comilla City, and many others were shot dead. After they were rescued and taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital, the doctor on duty declared Masum dead.
As the police could not identify the dead body, Masum’s body was later buried as an heir. Later, the plaintiff in the case and relatives of the deceased identified Masum after seeing the picture of the dead body on social media.
The plaintiff in the case is said to be a close relative of the deceased innocent. He is a resident of the Dishaband area of the city.
Other accused in the case are Comilla Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman (absconder) Aminul Islam Tutul, Comilla Metropolitan Jubo League convener and Zilla Parishad Panel Chairman Abdullah Al Mahmud Sahid, Comilla Sadar South Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdul Hai Bablu, Comilla Metropolitan Awami League Acting General Secretary. Atiq Ullah Khokon, Comilla Sadar Upazila Vice Chairman Ahmed Niaz Pavel, Comilla Metropolitan Volunteers League President Zahirul Islam Rintu, General Secretary Sadekur Rahman Piyas, Comilla City Corporation Councilor Habibur Al Amin Sadi, Cricket Board Councilor Saiful Alam Roni (husband of initiation), Comilla City Corporation Councilor Sarkar Mahmud Javed, Kawsar Zaman Kayes of Bagichagao, Comilla, Sujan Dutta of Talpukur Par, Murad Mia of Kaliajuri, Comilla City Corporation Councilor Azad Hossain, Councilor Anwar Hossain, Councilor Ikramul Haque, Racecourse Abdul Qayyum, Comilla City Corporation Councilor Abul Hasan and others.
