Moon Desk: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam on Monday said name of Sheikh Borhanuddin Post Graduate College will be written in golden letters in the history of anti-discrimination movement.

Students of this college accelerated the July-August uprising through their courageous role, he said while speaking at the discussion at the college organized on the occasion of holy Siratunnabi (PBUH),

He remembered Shaheed Shobhan and Shaheed Elem, student of the college, who sacrificed their lives in the movement and uncovered plaques in their names on the college premises.

“Due to their sacrifice, we can speak freely today,” Nahid said adding that embracing martyrdom in the movement is a matter of great dignity.

Nahid said, the present government always welcomes the criticism and everyone has the right to question about any step of the government to make it accountable to the people.

The adviser said students have sacrificed their blood in every movement including the recent student-led upsurge for national cause, but they didn’t get any benefit from the movements.

“Students must be rewarded for their sacrifice as the opportunity has come now,” he added.

Regarding the issue of state reform, the advisor said the present government is working on the reform of state and he sought everyone’s support for the reform.

Nahid Islam laid importance on creating job opportunities so that students find employment after completing their studies.

He also put importance on participation of the youths in the reform activities saying the youths should make them qualified and prepared to lead the country.

Adviser Nahid said Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) always spoke for truth and justice. Those who gave their lives for the cause of truth and justice were given the status of martyrs.

With Sheikh Borhanuddin Post Graduate College Principal Prof. Muhammad Nurul Haq in the chair, president of the college governing body Prof Dr Mohammad Al Mojaddedi Alfesani, Professor Dr. Dil Roshan Jinnat Ara Nazneen and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Majbah-ul-Islam also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion prize were distributed among the winners of different competitions organized on the occasion of holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, anniversary of the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). A cultural programme was also arranged on the occasion.
